You’re not that bright

543e

Ever thought in the moment that you were doing the right thing only to realize later (sometimes years) that you were wrong? Hindsight is 20/20 they say. Or ever seen your child in a situation and it is so clear to you what she should do but it isn’t clear to her? Your child’s brain is not as developed as yours and she simply does not share your vast experience so she does not see the full picture and consequences.

It is the same with God. He understands things in a way that your human sized brain cannot. He not only knows you completely but knows all people and He fully comprehends consequences that may not make sense to us. And, even more important is that He loves you so He only wants the best for you.

I see FB posts all the time by people who really don’t understand why anyone would be against this or that sin (not that they see it as sin). Those people do not trust and lean on God but on their own understanding. If God says it is wrong, it is wrong even if we don’t see the harm in it.

Even if you don’t really buy into all this “Jesus stuff,” imagine a world who lives as God desires: marriages would be healthy; divorce would not be needed or desired; abuse would not happen; trusting each other would be easy; things such as gossip would not exist and most importantly, we’d all love each other. I know it’s not going to happen here on Earth, but it does make me eager for Heaven.

As humans we really aren’t that bright compared to God, so instead why not just trust Him?

And, by the way, acting in an unloving way towards a sinner? That’s also against God.

Eph 1:25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.
